“30 Coins” (original title: “30 Monedas”) is a Spanish horror series created by Álex de la Iglesia. The first season premiered on HBO Europe on November 29, 2020, and later aired in the United States via HBO and HBO Max in 2021.
The series follows Father Vergara, an exiled priest with a dark past, who is sent to a remote village in Spain. Strange and terrifying events begin to unfold, leading the local vet Elena and the town’s mayor Paco to seek answers from Father Vergara. The plot revolves around the mysterious 30 coins of Judas Iscariot, which are believed to hold immense supernatural power.
Season 1 consists of 8 episodes, each filled with suspense, horror, and supernatural elements. The show has been praised for its unique storyline and strong performances by the cast, including Eduard Fernández, Megan Montaner, and Miguel Ángel Silvestre.
